Strikes

National rail strikes - January 2023

Strikes will affect national rail services nationwide. Most TfL services, including most of the Tube, will continue to run. However, there is some disruption expected on London Overground, the Elizabeth line, the Circle line and parts of the District and Bakerloo lines.

Strikes are planned on these days:

  • Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 January 2023
  • Friday 6 and Saturday 7 January 2023

On the days after strikes, on services affected by strikes:

Tube

District line

Limited services will run 07:30-18:00 (no services outside these times) between:

  • Wimbledon and Parsons Green
  • Richmond and Turnham Green

The rest of the line will run as normal.

Bakerloo line

  • No services will run between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone

Circle line

  • Reduced service

Elizabeth line

Reduced service. Services will operate in 3 sections:

Liverpool Street - Shenfield (not stopping at Whitechapel)

  • Services will run 07:30-17:30
  • 2 trains per hour

Abbey Wood - Paddington

  • 12 trains per hour until 17:30
  • 6 trains per hour from 17:30
  • 6 trains per hour before 08:00 on Wed 14 and Sat 17 December 2022, and Wed 4 and Sat 7 January 2023

Paddington - Heathrow and Reading

  • Services will run 07:30-17:30
  • 2 trains per hour Paddington - Reading
  • 2 trains per hour Paddington - Heathrow T4

London Overground

  • Reduced service
  • Services will run 07:30-18:00
  • Night Overground will not run on strike days

Richmond/Clapham Junction - Stratford

  • Reduced service

Highbury and Islington - West Croydon/Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace

  • 2 trains per hour between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon
  • 2 trains per hour between Highbury & Islington and Clapham Junction
  • 2 trains per hour between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace

Gospel Oak - Barking

  • No services will run between Barking and Barking Riverside
  • 4 trains per hour Gospel Oak - Barking

Liverpool Street - Chingford/Cheshunt/Enfield Town

  • 2 trains per hour between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town
  • 2 trains per hour between Liverpool Street and Chingford
  • 1 train per hour between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt

Euston - Watford Junction

  • No services will run on Saturday 17 December
  • 2 trains per hour between Euston and Watford Junction
  • 2 trains per hour between Euston and Kilburn High Road

Romford - Upminster

  • No service expected

Bus strikes

There strikes planned on Abellio bus services. On strike days, we will aim to run as many services as possible, but we expect disruption.

  • Routes affected by the Abellio strike action are mostly in west and south London
  • Other bus services are not affected by these strikes

  • Tuesday 27 December (bank holiday)
  • Saturday 31 December (New Year's Eve)
  • Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 January
  • Tuesday 10 January
  • Thursday 12 January

  • Thursday 19 January
  • Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 January

Routes affected are listed below. Other services not affected by strikes will be busier than normal.

On the days after strikes, a good service will be running by approximately 06:00.

Route 481 will operate but with fewer services on weekdays from 07:30-08:00, and from 15:00-16:00.

London Underground, London Overground and Elizabeth line will continue to offer Turn Up and Go assistance. However, if trains are too full and this is not possible, we'll assist with alternative routes or will provide a taxi.
